For safety purposes, all work that involves action/chamber/barrel work must be checked for headspace and test fired before the firearm is returned to the client.
Firearms are test fired for function, not accuracy, and utilize the combination of inert and/or live ammunition. A minimal number of shots will be fired (per barrel/chamber and/or action type [double-action/single-action]) unless more are needed to replicate a specific malfunction.
The cost of ammunition varies based on caliber/gauge and per cartridge, so clients can avoid the ammunition charge by providing quality factory ammunition of their own. If not otherwise coordinated, the cost per cartridge will be $5-10, on average, depending upon availability and the caliber used.
We utilizes a boresight process following any work on this type of firearm. However, only the combination of a specific shooter, specific ammunition, and specific sights, can the firearm be truly sighted in. Since the client is not the shooter during the ‘sighting in’ process, there is no guarantee that the firearm will shoot the same way for the client.
*Large caliber firearm work will need to be scheduled prior to accepting any firearm in this category.*
